If I am going down the publishing route I want to make sure I have things right!

I will happily provide free chapters to anyone who wants to give me an honest opinion.

No come back-no charge, no hard sell!

Opinions so far have gone from:

You are nuts-I love it!

It’s fab!

You killed off my favorite character-bring her back!

More please.

Jesus what an imagination you have

I was wondering how you would get out of this- and you dropped me right down a hole!

Didnt see that coming-I am genuinely shocked!

There is something magical about their camaraderie.

Love your sense of humor.

Only you could invent a gay Pixie!

They swear a lot!

Betty’s five step plan for submission to a publisher!

I set this page up to show the rollercoaster ride that is writing your first novel.

The aim was to show how I negotiated the minefield and what if anything I had learned along the way!

Yesterday I made the decision to try a publishing house that takes new writers.

Today I realised that I need a plan.

1. Be patient-not my best point!

2. Do your homework- are the publishers right for you? Do they have a good track record?

3. Are they interested in publishing your genre? Not much point if they specialise in cookery or gardening!

4. Make sure the manuscript is edited and as good and as professional as it can be before submission. I may be an ameteur but I don’t have to look like one!

5. Don’t beat yourself up if they say no!

To publish or Not to publish! Let’s Do It: There’s 106 miles to Chicago, we’ve got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark out, and we’re wearing sunglasses -Hit it!

Getting those big girl panties on and sending it to the publishers-decision made!

What have I got to lose apart from my dignity-it wouldn’t be the first time and I’m still kicking!

‘Publish and be damned’- as the big man said!

If they don’t publish it you can always go back to plan A-smart cookie!

I’m Listening!

You don’t have to be a cell of one! New writers hunched over your iPads, we can talk to each other as well as scribble! I want to hear your thoughts, discuss your ideas, even read a bit of your work.

We can help each other up the long self publishing ladder! You stand on my shoulders I will do the same to you and we will get there…

Don’t be shy about it-I want to hear from you if you have something to say!

Like my blog-follow it if you want. Maybe publish samples of your writing and we can all have a chat and a cuppa!
